Director of Medical Records

The Medical Records  provides clerical and administrative support for the community. He or she helps compile reports, complete requisitions, and maintain medical records and health information systems following all current federal and state guidelines and all established privacy policies and procedures.

 

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Compiles, verifies, types, and files medical records following all established procedures and regulations

  • Reviews medical records for completeness and maintains records according to the established filing system

  • Locates, signs out, and delivers medical records as requested

  • Helps with record coding

  • Provides clerical support, such as typing, filing, copying, data entry, and record keeping

  • Ensures that required documentation is complete and is in compliance with regulations and standards

  • Provides timely and accurate reports as required

  • Manages supplies and ensures orderly work areas

  • Attends all staff meetings, trainings, and educational classes as required

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Position qualifications, both required and preferred, include the following:

  • High school diploma or GED required; some post high school education or training preferred

  • Two years of relevant experience preferred

  • Experience in medical record and health information system procedures, maintenance of medical records, and ICD-10-CM/CPT coding

  • Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred, or Registered Nurse /Licensed Practical Nurse with appropriate training and experience also preferred

  • Skilled at clerical support, including typing, filing, copying, data entry, and record keeping

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Highly professional and dependable

  • Communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients, staff, vendors, and others

  • Strong computer and internet skills, including Microsoft Office suite

The Nicol Home operates 24-hours-a-day and 7-days-per-week. We utilize different shifts within 24 hours, with an overlap in the shift start/end times for communication between shifts. You will be assigned to specific shift. You are required to maintain your state issued CNA license in good standing in order for continuing employment at The Nicol Home, as well as obtaining necessary continuing education hours required by the state licensing agency. 

Part-time or PRN Registered Nurse

The Nicol Home is seeking skilled Certified RN Charge Nurses for open night or day shift hours to act as RN coverage when needed. Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • ​Recognize and deal with immediate needs of each resident in accordance with their plan of care and prescribed policies and procedures of the facility

  • Ensures that all safety and infection control practices are followed

  • Distributes and documents medications according to established standards and regulations

  • Supervises the nursing assistants on duty

  • Responds to emergency situations

  • Communicates with residents, families and physicians efficiently and quickly

  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills

  • Make physical rounds at the beginning and end of each shift with oncoming shift

The Nicol Home operates 24-hours-a-day and 7-days-per-week. We utilize different shifts within 24 hours, with an overlap in the shift start/end times for communication between shifts. Ideal candidates have current and unencumbered license as an RN in this state, certification in CPR/AED/First-Aid, and at least two years of nursing experience, preferably in a long-term care setting or assisted living community.
